There's a palpable shift in the air as October rolls in, and nowhere is it more breathtaking than in the Central Idaho mountains. The riot of summer green gives way to a spectacular palette of gold and crimson, painting the peaks and valleys in a final, fiery show before the snows arrive. Along with this vibrant beauty comes the welcome chill of cooler temperatures, perfect for cozy sweaters, steaming mugs, and long, reflective hikes.
October isn't just a change in season; it's a profound point of transition, marked by significant cosmic and ancestral moments. We begin the month with the energetic push of the Aries Full Moon (October 6), inviting us to step into a sovereign version of ourselves. Later, the reflective Libra New Moon (October 21) encourages us to seek balance, harmony, and peace in our relationships and environment.
As the month draws to a close, we arrive at the ancient observance of Samhain—the Celtic New Year (observed October 31st–November 1st). As the veil between worlds thins, this is a sacred time to pause and honor our ancestors and the wisdom they’ve passed down. It’s a moment to connect with those who have shaped us and to appreciate the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth.
Amidst the seasonal shift, the lunar cycles, and the historical weight of the month, we're invited to slow down. By intentionally grounding ourselves, we can harness this energy to cultivate a feeling of being centered and peaceful. This October, let the quiet magic of the mountains and the echoes of the past guide you toward inner tranquility.
